Watch out Aiden & Roman

Lucas will be running after you very soon.

So two nights ago, Lucas took four steps…holy crap, where did my baby go???

I am not sure I am ready for this, A&R walked at 14 months and 15 months, respectively, but if you take into account adjusted age, I guess it’s pretty close…I’m just not ready for him to be less babyish!

I wasn’t able thttp://youtu.be/pZEHrFPSH70o get video of it but last night I got a quick video of a few steps:

Then today when I dropped the boys off at daycare Lucas was thrilled with this toy and practicing his developing mobility skills:

Looks like we could have a walker for Christmas!

9 Months

Lucas has been a busy little boy this past month. Here is what he’s been up to:

  • Crawling
  • Pulling up
  • Lots of babbling – mostly “mama” and “babababa”
  • Hysterically laughing at his brothers – he adores them and the love is mutual, it’s ridiculously cute. We have definitely lucked out w/how amazing the boys have adjusted to having a new baby in the house, watching them grow close and bond is the most amazing thing ever.

  • Eating…everything, He loves turkey meatballs, chicken, pasta, yogurt, cheese and any fruit, veggies are hit or miss but pretty good. He is starting to be a little more particular with new food – sticking his tongue out to taste it to see if he wants to eat it.
  • Sleep: 11-12 sold hours and two naps during the day
  • Teeth: ZERO, we may have to invest in some dentures for him if he doesn’t start popping out some teeth soon

Oh yeah, and his stats, how could I forget:

Weight: 22lbs, 67th percentile

Length: 30.5in, 96th percentile

Head circumference: 45.5in, 51st percentile

And for his flu shot and blood work, this kid was amazing. He seriously didn’t even notice, didn’t make a sound at all…what a trooper!!

And for his little photo shoot we took a few photos inside but then went outside and braved the cold weather (ok, not freezing, but anything below 65 degrees is cold to me).

and saving the best for last…how are you already 9 months old….

Lucas on the Move

While the big boys watched Thomas, Lucas practiced his crawling technique, noting that he prefers the hardwood floor so he can slide is lower half along.

It was your pretty normal day for the boys, morning at the playground, out for lunch, naps, walking around the mall…and then Aiden and Lucas decided to throw out a few surprises.

First, I was getting Lucas ready for bed and had him sitting in his room on the carpet. I knelt down and he got really excited, going on all fours. I anticipated the usual belly flop along with swimming motion attempting to lunge himself forward to me. Well wouldn’t you know, he took his first crawling steps forward! He’s been pretty mobile lately, but no real crawling until today. The proud mommy in me was cheering him on and then the practical mommy thought, “Oh shit. Three mobile kids. I’m screwed. Game on.”

I guess Mr Aiden didn’t want to be shown up by his baby brother so he asked to go potty, standing at the bottom of the stairs with his pants around his ankles, extremely proud of himself for wiggling his way out of his jeans. He got up on that potty and sat down and peed like it was no big deal. He has gone a few times, but just for a second or two and then would stop, just to say he did it and ask for an M&M. Aiden has seemed a bit more ready, where Roman really wants nothing to do with it. Perhaps it was the motivation from picking out big boy underwear today. We popped into Gap Kids and I just showed Aiden and Roman the big big underwear, explaining to them that if they want to wear them, they need to go potty and there will be no more diapers. They seemed all for it so I let them each get a pack. Not sure when we’ll go all in on this potty training craziness (I am not pushing it, as diapers can be quite convenient for a number of reasons-especially with 3 kids) but tonight was a little exciting considering the ridiculous number of diapers that get used in this house…I feel really bad for our garbage men.

Oh and on another milestone note, Lucas can go from laying to sitting, causing me yet again to curse the aging of my baby boy. This is how I discovered his new skill-at 6am checking on him with the video monitor:

Ooops, I missed last month, sorry little man, I’ve been slacking big time since work has been so busy. I’ll try and make up for it this month.

At 8 months, you’ve accomplished a lot.

New tricks:

  • Can sit up unassisted
  • Get on all 4’s and rock for a second or two
  • Can travel the room by pushing, rolling and shuffling
  • Can stand holding onto something for short periods of time
  • Say “mama” (at least i’m 90% sure you’re saying it intentionally)
  • Weigh just about 22lbs and have moved up to the big boy carseat; which also means Mommy has to retire the snap n go, very sad
  • Loves to play peek-a-boo and laughs at his big brothers as soon as they start talking to him
  • Sleep for 10-11hrs straight! (Mommy’s still a little tired since you go to bed at 630/7pm and you wake to eat at 5am)
  • Loves the swing, tried it at the playground the other day, and was just thrilled with life and Aiden loves to swing next to his baby brother
  • Can hold his own bottle – I came to pick the boys up from daycare early one day and he’s laying a boppy just chillin’, holding his bottle drinking away.  The daycare teacher looked at me like I was crazy when I acted surprised but he nurses at home, so bottles really are rarely ever used if I’m around.
  • Eats solids like a champ – seriously, he chews as if he’s been doing it from birth, and get PISSED if he sees his brothers sitting down to eat and he’s not joining them

Everything else:

  • Speaking of eating. Still no teeth.  Not a one. Not even a little white cap hanging out under the gums.  Poor kid has been teething forever and has nothing to show for it yet
  • Developed separation anxiety and lunges for Mommy whether you’re sitting or in someone else’s arms
  • Wearing 9m or some 12m (for length). I’ll have more official stats at his 9 month well baby visit next month.
  • Is kind of obsessed with this elephant. I desperately had to wash it yesterday so it wasn’t available when I put him down so I took this other little elephant stuffed toy (a little smaller, not as soft) to see if it would pass the test.  Yeah….not so much. He freaked out and wailed until I fished it out of the dryer before it was completely dry.  He loves to suck on the elephant’s trunk and rub his little buddy all over his face. I thought I was covered with having two of these (one for home, one for daycare), but apparently not.  Not to worry, I just ordered a 3rd on Amazon
  • Down to two naps a day but sometimes we’ll sneak in a short 3rd in the late afternoon depending on how the day went

Such a busy little man and more and more fun as the days fly by.  Seriously, I almost forget what our family was like before you came along! ❤

As for the photos, lighting is everything. The first few shots I wasn’t loving how the light was hitting Lucas’ face, but then turned him 90 degrees (the second photo) and BAM…lighting perfection and a winning smile 🙂
