We delayed switching Aiden and Roman into beds for as long as possible; but once Lucas arrived, we realized that their crib days were up as Roman thought it was hilarious to hoist his leg over the crib rail when we went into get him. I haven’t taken any photos of their room transformation so I quickly took some with my phone (so please ignore the horrible photo quality – my 50mm lens is not wide enough to get any good room shots).

This was Aiden & Roman’s room before:

A new dresser, toddler beds and removing the circle decals later…

A little furniture rearranging and I think we maximized the space pretty well.  We thought of going straight to twin beds but space is an issue and we didn’t want to commit to a nice furniture set since we would like to move in 1.5-2 years and the boys will probably have their own rooms then (unless they want to keep sharing for a while longer). Aiden’s crib is not in Lucas’ room, along with their dresser/changing table and Roman’s crib is being used by their cousin Asher. I was hesitant to take off the decals but the boys started peeling them off the walls so off they went.

For Aiden & Roman’s nursery, their crib bedding, changing bad cover and basket liner, rug and wall art was from Restoration Hardware.  The wall art I actually painted over with leftover paint from their walls so it would match (OCD much?).

Lucas’ Nursery

After over 8 months, Lucas’ room is finally done…I think, heh.

Poor kid didn’t even have a crib until he was 2 months old.  It took me 7 months to get Aiden & Roman’s room finished, so I guess I didn’t do to bad this time around, only one month behind.

Now Aiden & Roman’s room has a completely different feel than Lucas’.  The twins room is bright and fun, for Lucas I wanted something more calming – perhaps I knew the poor kid would be surrounded by the crazy that is our house, so he should have a little bit of serenity around him, right?

The first thing I did was find the bedding and the nursery style grew from there thanks to my good friend Ellen.  Ellen is a designer, with a fabulous business: Home Decorable (homedecorable@gmail.com).  Very unique business model, geared towards the “middle classy”, for $100 you get an hour session with her via phone/skype/etc., you can purchase more time if need-be of course and she can be as hands-on as you need or just give you your roadmap and let you run with it.  She can pretty much put together a room design for you in no time, not to mention pass along her vendor discounts to you.  She is pretty awesome, has fabulous style and is great to work with, she adapts to your style preference and budget. Literally, in one hour we came up with this:

(The photos aren’t the best, as I was using my 50mm lens and couldn’t back up enough in his small room to really capture everything put together, perhaps I will try and take a photo with my iPhone to get more of the room in one shot)

Don’t worry, we will mount the monitor camera as soon as Lucas starts pulling up.
